Cancer is the leading cause of death in children from non-communicable diseases in Peru and worldwide. Peru is the third country in Latin America with the highest mortality rate. Almost six children per day are diagnosed, and of which, 70% arrive in the city of Lima in late or terminal states, which has led to a high mortality rate. 90% of specialized pediatric and childhood cancer treatments are provided only in the capital city of Lima. Families who come to Lima in search of help saturate the services and face economic, social, and cultural adversity that mainly forces them to abandon the treatment of their children. As a result, it has been concluded that a child born in Lima has more significant possibilities to live.
We want to overcome this reality. That is why in our Children’s Health Citadel, we do not only provide specialized medical care; we care for families in extreme poverty so they can also have well-prepared spaces to be happy and to receive the attention and love of their country and the world.
The VIDAWASI Child’s Health Citadel is a micro-city of love and hope established on 14 hectares of great scenic beauty. It generates spaces of high architecture aimed at Specialized Pediatric Health Care, primary care, early diagnosis, and various high-standard services. Happiness integrates all its visitors: from children and their families to doctors and volunteers. It also welcomes philanthropic tourism, authorities, corporations, and everyone who wants to join us day by day to help give life to the first Citadel of Child Health in Latin America and wishes to share this unique work that provides all the needs demanded by Pediatric Health care, the fight against Childhood Cancer and comprehensive support for those who today have no opportunity.
Thanks to the VIDAWASI Child’s Health Citadel's strategic location in the Sacred Valley of Los Incas, Urubamba-Cusco, we reached 7 surrounding periphery regions of Peru, representing a quality of health and life opportunity for more than 800,000 children from the catchment area. And we will continue to work to be a national focal point very soon!!

Once the goal of our surgical center is completed, our Children’s Health Citadel will be ready to increase services to receive no less than 500 children per day, referred from various regions of the country.
